Nigel Farage spent a morning in Hull and Beverley as a major new opinion poll suggests Luke Campbell could have a significant lead in the race to become Mayor.
The Reform UK party leader came to the region on Friday as his party's candidate topped a YouGov poll putting him on 35 per cent. The poll then has the Liberal Democrats' Mike Ross in second place on 21 per cent followed by Labour's Margaret Pinder on 20 per cent, the Conservatives' Anne Handley on 15 per cent, Green Party candidate Kerry Harrison on 7 per cent and the Yorkshire Party's Rowan Halstead on 3 per cent.
Mr Farage was joined by the former Olympic gold medallist boxer as he first visited the Boxclub boxing gym in Hull. The pair watched as a number of young boxers trained before they hopped in the ring themselves for a photo.
Just days after Mr Campbell was also revealed as the bookies' favourite for the election, Mr Farage told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that he is not taking anything for granted. He said: "Certainly in the city he's going to get a big vote but Labour are still going to get votes here, let's not think they've disappeared completely."
He added: "I believe Luke will win but we're not taking it for granted."

After leaving the boxing gym, Mr Farage, Mr Campbell, and their Reform entourage headed to Beverley where they were met by a crowd of supporters. They walked through the town talking to locals in an attempt to garner support ahead of next week's vote.
