Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have sealed their place at the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup after a commanding 4-0 aggregate victory over Algeria in the final round of African qualifiers, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Flamingos built their qualification on a strong foundation laid in the first leg, when they swept aside the Algerians 4-0 in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.
A disciplined performance in the return fixture on Friday night saw them hold out for a goalless draw at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida, securing progression without fuss.
That result extended Nigeria’s remarkable unbeaten streak in U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers to 25 matches. Since 2008, the Flamingos have played 29 qualifying games, with their only defeat coming in a 1-0 loss to Ghana in Accra 17 years ago.
With this qualification, Nigeria will be making their eighth appearance at the tournament, missing out on only one edition since the competition’s inception in 2008.
The West Africans will now join Morocco (hosts), Cameroon, and Côte d’Ivoire as Africa’s confirmed representatives at Morocco 2025.
Benin Republic and Zambia are scheduled to battle for Africa’s fifth and final qualifying ticket.

Nigeria’s Flamingos will be keen to build on their historic third-place finish at the 2022 edition in India — their best-ever performance on the global stage.
Cameroon also booked their ticket to Morocco after edging Kenya 4-1 on aggregate. The Central Africans won 1-0 in Nairobi before completing the job with a 3-1 victory at home. It marks Cameroon’s return to the tournament after missing out in the last two editions, during which they were knocked out by Tanzania (2022) and Uganda (2024).
Meanwhile, Côte d’Ivoire made history by qualifying for their first-ever FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
The Ivorians beat Guinea 1-0 in the first leg but lost the return leg 2-1. However, they advanced on away goals, securing a landmark moment in the country’s women’s football journey.
Morocco 2025 will be the ninth edition of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup. It will be the first time the tournament is hosted on African soil, and the first to feature 24 teams, following FIFA’s decision to make the competition an annual event.
This year’s competition runs from October 17 to November 8, 2025. North Korea are the reigning champions, having lifted their record third title in 2024.
