Bristol has been ranked as one of the UK's most violent cities, with a 20 per cent increase in violent crime putting it above the national average

More than 1,000 violent or sexual offences were committed in multiple Bristol neighbourhoods in the last year, according to police data. The city has seen a 20 per cent increase in violent crimes from March 2024 to February of this year.
Around 43,100 violent crimes took place in this period - well above the national average. The term 'violent crime' refers to a range of major offences such as murder and grievous bodily harm (GBH).
It also includes assault with injury, common assault, harassment, offensive weapon and other violence. Rape, sexual assault, and indecent exposure are included in the sexual offences data.

Three neighbourhoods registered more than 1,000 violent and/or sexual offences within the last year. This is about 200 per cent above the national crime rate comparison.
