Police said they want to speak to two people after a man died in a crash. Officers were called to A41 in Chester, Backford Dip, between Church Lane and the A5032 at around 11.45am on Saturday, May 10.

It followed reports of a crash between a motorcycle and a grey Audi. The motorcyclist, a 58-year-old man from Ellesmere Port, was pronounced dead following the crash. His family are currently being supported by specialist officers, police added.

The driver of the Audi, a 23-year-old man, has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report a road accident. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

As part of their enquiries, officers would now like to speak to two people who were travelling in a car and who spoke to the driver of a grey Audi shortly after the crash.

Inspector Steve Griffiths said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the motorcyclist’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time. As we continue our investigation into the circumstances of this incident, we are continuing to appeal to any witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to get in touch with us.
