Fire at Keir Starmer's home sparks police investigation
A cordon remains in place outside the property while investigation work takes place
An investigation has been launched after a fire broke out at Prime Minister Keir Starmer's north London home in the early hours of this morning. The London Fire Brigade attended Sir Keir's property shortly after 1.30am following reports of a fire.
The Fire Brigade managed to get the blaze under control after around 20 minutes of being first called. Two fire engines attended the scene.
Damage has been done to the front door of the property but nobody was hurt, the Metropolitan Police confirmed. A cordon remains in place outside the home while investigation work takes place, the Mirror reports.
When asked about the fire, the Prime Minister's official spokesperson said: "I can only say that Prime Minister thanks the emergency services for their work and it is subject to a live investigation. So I can't comment any further."
The Metropolitan Police said: "On Monday, 12 May at 01:35hrs, police were alerted by the London Fire Brigade to reports of a fire at a residential address in Countess Road, NW5 Officers attended the scene. Damage was caused to the property’s entrance, nobody was hurt.
"The fire is being investigated and cordons remain in place while enquiries continue. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 441/12 May."
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson added: "Firefighters were called to a small fire outside a property in Kentish town this morning. The Brigade was called at 01.11 and the fire was under control by 01.33. Two fire engines from Kentish Town Fire Station attended the scene."
