Trent Alexander-Arnold made his first appearance for Liverpool on Sunday since breaking the news that he will be leaving the club at the end of his contract this summer. While that news was not a surprise, it clearly still stung some of the Anfield faithful as he was booed onto the pitch against Arsenal.

Personally, there is no right or wrong answer on whether Alexander-Arnold was rightfully booed. If you chose not to boo, that is perfectly fine and if you did then that's okay too, fans have the right to express their opinion just as he has the right to choose not to stay at the club.

Unless you have been living under a rock, you will know exactly where Alexander-Arnold intends to go next in his career. A move to Real Madrid appears to be on the cards this summer, with the LA Liga giants even making an initial approach to Liverpool over signing the England international in time for this summer's Club World Cup.

However, a twist emerged on Monday when it was confirmed that Real boss Carlo Ancelotti will leave the Spanish club at the end of the season to become the new national team coach of Brazil.

A statement from the CBF described Ancelotti as 'a legend of the game as the most successful manager in football history'.

It added: “This landmark moment sees the coming together of two icons — the only five-time FIFA World Cup champions and a coach with an unmatched record across Europe’s elite competitions.

“The CBF extends its sincere gratitude to Real Madrid and (president) Mr Perez for the cordiality and sportsmanship shown in facilitating the coach’s release during his contract term, allowing this new chapter to begin with mutual respect and cooperation between the teams.

“The confederation would also like to extend its thanks to Diego Fernandes, who facilitated and led negotiations with Mr Ancelotti and Real Madrid on behalf of the CBF in Europe.

“The CBF warmly welcomes Mr Ancelotti and looks forward to a new era of success under his leadership.”

Xabi Alonso is being widely tipped to replace Ancelotti in the Bernabeu hot seat.

The former Liverpool Champions League winner announced on Friday he was leaving Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.

He enjoyed a successful two-and-a-half years at the German club, having won a league and cup double last season and falling just short of a remarkable unbeaten treble with defeat to Atalanta in the Europa League final.

But today's developments mean Alexander-Arnold won't be the only person adjusting to new surroundings this summer.
