One of Neal Maupay's sniping online predictions about Everton could be about to come true. Although not in a way in which the French forward would necessarily want.

The striker, who scored just one goal for the Blues in 32 appearances, is currently on loan at Marseille and is set to leave Goodison Park on a permanent deal this summer. The French club have an obligation to make his loan deal a full-time one.

Although he is still an Everton player, Maupay has taken frequent digs at the club and their supporters in the last couple of years.

The forward infamously posted a meme from the Shawshank Redemption in the summer after his exit from the Blues was confirmed. He also tweeted a dig at Everton after they lost to Nottingham Forest in December: "Whenever I’m having a bad day I just check the Everton score and smile."

After that post, Maupay then responded to an enraged Everton supporter with "See you in the Champions League next season!" followed up by "*championship".

Alas, Everton will not be playing in the Championship next season. But their former one-goal striker could be if reports in France are to be believed.

According to Jeunes Footeux (h/t Sport Witness), after Marseille sign the striker they will look to move him on. It's claimed Maupay has some suitors in the Premier League and also in the Championship!

It's suggested that the 28-year-old has not done enough to convince head coach Roberto De Zerbi that he should stay at the Stade Velodrome.

Marseille recently confirmed a Champions League place for next season and sit second in Ligue 1. Maupay has scored four league goals in 21 appearances over the course of his loan move.

Everton supporters are not the only fanbase to have an issue with Maupay. The forward was subject to abuse from Nice fans in January in the form of numerous banners.

The Frenchman caused a stir in the summer when he opted to join Marseille instead of their domestic rivals. Maupay started his career at Nice and they were said to be keen on signing him again for this season.

A banner was unfurled during the game reading: "Maupay – you've gone from a son of the club to a son of a b*tch." Another banner read "the sun is setting on the city of Nice...let the rat hunt begin".
