Three Boro Women stars surprised a very special young girl.

At last year's annual Christmas party, our Boro Women players were introduced to a young girl called Sophia, who was bubbling with energy and had a gleaming smile on her face.

Despite that, Sophia had been fighting a battle with stage four Hodgkin's lymphoma, a rare form of cancer, since November 2024.

Sophia is a lifelong Boro fan and has a special love for our women's team. She loves to cheer on the Boro with her four brothers, who share her love for football.

Touched by her story, Sharna Wilkinson, Grace Boyes and Becky Ferguson were eager to meet her again and treat her to some Boro surprises.

Throughout her treatment journey, Sophia and her family have been supported by the Give A Duck Foundation.

The foundation give duck teddies called "Chemo Ducks" to young patients on cancer wards to help them during their treatment.

The Chemo Duck is fitted with medical lines and ports to mirror those on children receiving treatment and is used in play therapy by consultants to help prepare the children for their treatment.

Sophia's duck, Dezzie, has helped her through her treatment journey, and as requested, dons a Middlesbrough kit.
