Some traditions never change, and birthday bashes just aren't complete without cake, pressies, and balloons for the birthday boy or girl. Decorating can be a right laugh and looks smashing, but it's often more of a slog than you'd think.

Balloons are a bargain to pick up and a doddle to set up, yet you're usually knackered after puffing them all up, and your digits ache from trying to tie them off. To save yourself from being cream crackered, why not grab a balloon pump? You can snag one for a pound at Poundland.

To spare your fingers, a lass has become an internet sensation, with her video racking up an impressive 160 million views on Instagram. She demonstrated sitting on a chair with a coat hanger between her legs, using one arm as a nifty balloon tool.

She puffed up a green balloon, then twirled the end around the hanger's tip twice, creating a perfect stretched hole to shove the end through and knot it. As she pushed the end through the opening, she lifted it off the hanger, sealing it tight.

"Save your fingers," suggested @mrs.mpagaja who posted the viral clip. One gobsmacked viewer exclaimed: "Ummmmm. This is gold. I bow to you new friend."

Another commented: "This is one of the most genius things I've seen in my life. Thank you. "How does it feel to be the smartest person alive," chimed in another. One astonished viewer said: "I've never been able to tie a balloon. You're my idol now."

Another remarked: "I pray your coffee is always good! Your pillow is cold! Your kids listen! And good things just happen to you! Thank you lol. "Someone get this lady something I don't know what, but make it very good," added another.

One other shared: "I wish I would have seen this 6 months ago for my son's 1st birthday - over 60 balloons and my fingers hurt for a week after."

In other birthday news, a mum was baffled after being told she had to pay for entrance tickets for a children's birthday party.
