Amazon launches tech sale with discounts on Echo Dot and Fire TV sticks
Ahead of the bank holiday weekend, Amazon has launched a sale with a focus on its own-range of tech devices
A number of Amazon's own-brand devices are on sale just in time for the bank holiday weekend. Bargain hunters can find deals on tech gadgets such as Fire TV sticks and the Echo Dot. Leading the charge in the sale is the Fire TV Stick 4K (newest gen), slashed to £39.99 from its original £59.99 price tag.
This streaming stick has 'improved streaming performance', 4K Ultra HD, and Dolby Atmos audio, elevating the home cinema experience. The device also streams TV and supports apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ (subscriptions may be required), and even has an Xbox app, reports the Mirror.
The Fire TV Stick 4K (Newest gen) has more than 18,000 reviews. One customer gave it a five-star rating, praising its user-friendly setup and easy-to-follow instructions. They added: "The wifi connection is instant. The volume and voice control are great, I was amazed what you can actually get on a Fire Stick - so totally recommend this."

However, a former Android box user expressed disappointment: "No proper equivalents of Android apps, and those that are, are expensive. After several years of using an Android box, I wanted to try a Fire TV Stick, but it was a bad choice. Android boxes have a significant advantage with a selection of free apps."
A third buyer added: "Sound great, quality good, easy to set up, storage is a little naff if you're into downloading stuff. Overall, it's a value for money, and the remote is better than previous versions. Highly recommended."

Elsewhere, Argos has a number of tech offers too. Shoppers can get 20% off the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9, worth £149, by using the code RED20 at the checkout. The tablet has the ability to use apps side-by-side, sports Screen Recording for capturing live moments, and offers App Continuity for seamless device switching.
In another high street deal, Currys has reduced the price of the Garmin 5 Smart Watch by £30, now on sale for £199, down from £229. This smartwatch offers insights into users sleep patterns, stress levels, and exercise routines. It also has an impressive battery life of 11 days, in smartwatch mode, and up to 21 hours, when using GPS.
Another highlight of Amazon's tech sale is savings on the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, currently £49.99, from £69.99. Amazon describes this gadget as its 'most powerful streaming stick' yet. It is built with quick loading and streaming capabilities, as well as high-quality visuals and sound.
Plus, its 'Ambient Experience' has more than 2,000 artworks and photos. In the reviews, one customer said the Fire TV Stick 4K Max brought 'new life' to their TV due to its performance and audio-visual features. The customer did, however, pinpoint a drawback.
They said: "The only downside is it requires another socket instead of being powered from the USB of the TV, but I have seen products on Amazon that convert the power to be sufficient from the TV USB too, so I might give them a try later."
The Echo Dot (Newest gen) is also included in the sales, down from £54.99, to £39.99. With built-in Alexa, it's perfect for asking questions, setting timers, making lists and checking the weather. It can also be used to listen to music and podcasts from apps such as Amazon Music, Audible, Apple Music, Spotify.
With 42,000 reviews, the Echo Dot (Newest gen) ranks among Amazon's most popular gadgets. One customer said: "I didn't expect to love this as much as I do, but the Echo Dot has seriously become my daily companion
They continued: "I use it for everything- music, reminders, weather updates, even random questions. The sound is great for the size, and Alexa just makes life easier. Cute, smart, and super useful!"
Meanwhile, a less satisfied three-star reviewer noted: "Tricky to set up. Instructions are so, so small in print."
