Schoolboy,14, banned from two areas in Midlands town

A schoolboy has been banned from visiting two shopping areas in a Midlands town after being involved in trouble in the area.

Barrie Smith of Broomy Close in Stourport has been handed a ban from visiting any shop in Lombard Street in Stourport, without a responsible adult.

He is also prohibited from going in any shop in Queens Road, which is a little over a mile away in the town, again without a responsible adult.

The 14-year-old is also banned from being with four named individuals in any public place.

Those four, though, cannot be named for legal reasons.

Smith was handed the Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at Worcester Youth Court on Wednesday (May 21).

The CBO was applied for by West Mercia Police following Smith’s involvement in anti-social behaviour in the town which was ‘impacting on residents, businesses and the community’.

Anyone who spots Smith in either of those two shopping area or otherwise breaching the order is urged to report it to the police as soon as possible online here.

Safer Neighbourhood Inspector for Wyre Forest, Daniel Poucher, said: “This a positive step towards tackling ongoing antisocial behaviour in Stourport-on-Severn.

“The local Safer Neighbourhood Team is continuing to work hard to support the community and address the issue by stopping those responsible.

“This behaviour is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.”
