Noor Bigzad targeted a vulnerable woman who was on a night out in Liverpool city centre
A man who raped a "vulnerable woman" and subjected her to a "prolonged period" of sexual abuse has been jailed for nine years. Noor Bigzad was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court today, Friday, May 23, after pleading guilty to rape, assault by penetration, non-fatal strangulation and assault.
The court heard how on Friday, October 25 2024, the 35-year-old targeted a vulnerable woman who was on a night out in Liverpool city centre and took her back to an address in Kensington.
He subjected her to a prolonged period of sexual abuse, which resulted in the woman sustaining multiple injuries. Thankfully she was able to flee the address after Bigzad fell asleep and reported the incident to the police.
Bigzad, of Manton Road, in Kensington, was arrested that same day and charged with the offences. He has also been placed on the Sex Offender's Register for life.
The woman said in her victim statement: “Before Noor Bigzad, I was a shy person but enjoyed socialising with close friends and my family. Now, I just don’t want to leave my house. I have been left with a feeling of constant anxiety, scared of strange noises in the house. I avoid busy places.
“Most importantly, I feel I’ve lost a huge part of myself. My confidence has been hugely impacted by this whole ordeal, and it has affected my relationships even with the people closest to me.”
Detective Constable Peter Dibbert said: “This was a horrific case of sexual violence against a completely innocent woman who was only trying to enjoy a night out in the city centre.
“Bigzad targeted the woman, took her back to Kensington and subjected her to a prolonged period of sexual abuse, which included raping and assaulting her.
“The bravery of this woman to not only report what happened but also support the prosecution case throughout the investigation is extraordinary and I hope this sentencing brings her some comfort. I also want to thank the local community in Kensington for their support in the investigation.

With no police involvement, a specialist doctor at Safe Place can examine you to check that you are ok and look for DNA evidence, which they will store to support your case. This gives you the option of making a formal police report at a later time, if you choose to.
