Track all of Newcastle's 2025 summer transfer activity, including confirmed signings, player departures, latest rumours and squad updates.

The 2024-25 season was a memorable one for Newcastle United, who sealed their return to the Champions League with a fifth-placed Premier League finish and picked up their first major domestic trophy since 1995, as Dan Burn and Alexander Isak fired them to a 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the final of the League Cup back in March.

Their top-five finish came thanks to a haul of 66 points, six more than in the 2023-24 campaign, as Eddie Howe’s side pipped Aston Villa to the final Champions League spot on goal difference despite suffering a final-day defeat to Everton.

The Magpies now turn their focus to an important upcoming campaign, in which they will be tested again on the European stage while bidding to establish themselves in the division’s top five once again, having memorably finished fourth in 2023.

Howe’s side have completed one signing on a free transfer thus far, while being linked with several other transfers which are anticipated to take place before the beginning of the new term, and the Magpies will hope to fend off interest in star forward Alexander Isak, who has notched up 54 goals in 86 Premier League appearances since his arrival in 2022.

Isak is believed to be on the radar of the majority of leading clubs in world football, but it is incredibly difficult to imagine the Sweden international leaving during the summer market.

Indeed, it would take an astronomical offer to sign the striker, and talk of a potential move to Arsenal or Liverpool has quietened in recent weeks.

Newcastle's preparations for the 2025-26 campaign will begin with a pre-season friendly against Scottish giants Celtic on July 19, while they will also tackle Arsenal, Espanyol and Atletico Madrid in non-competitive matches.

Those fixtures against quality opposition should stand the team in good stead for the start of the new campaign.

Howe's side will begin their new Premier League season away to Aston Villa on August 16, while their first home game of the campaign is at home to the champions Liverpool on August 23, so it is a blockbuster start.

Newcastle will again be expecting to challenge for a Champions League finish next term, but there will a lot of clubs thinking the same, while the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur should improve.

In truth, it has been a quiet transfer window thus far for Newcastle, especially considering their riches, although various obstacles are currently preventing the Magpies from spending the amount that they want to.
