Gloucester Love Island contestant Ben Holbrough is under fire from viewers and Love Island hosts after comments he made about his original partner Shakira.
During Tuesday's (June 10) episode, Ben was seen talking to bombshell Toni, who he had coupled up with, about his original partner Shakira.
Speaking to Toni, Ben said he "humbled" Shakira in a previous conversation, adding that she "needed that".
Toni simply replied saying: "I don't want to talk about her", before changing the subject, and now, Ben has come under fire from viewers and Love Island hosts for his comments.
The hosts of the official Love Island podcast, The Morning After, criticised Ben, with co-host and former contestant Indiyah Polak saying: "You always hear these horror stories of guys wishing these things on women like ‘oh yeah she needs to be humbled’.
"But you never see it in real life," she said, before adding: "I don’t know what it is [about] Shakira [that] Ben feels threatened by.
"But he seems to not like Shakira’s confidence... it rattles him."
Co-host Amy Hart added: "The only thing that Shakira did to Ben was throw herself into the relationship and try to make it work."
Fans echoed the podcast host's sentiments on social media and were quick to call out Ben's comments.
One viewer wrote: "Ben has known Shakira for all of 24hrs and wants to humble her for what exactly?"
"Two episodes into UK Love Island and I HATE BEN. WDYM SHAKIRA NEEDED TO BE HUMBLED. WEIRDO," said another.
Whilst a third chimed in with: "Ben saying Shakira needed to be humbled and he’s known her for three hours, he’s a weirdo he needs to leave already".
Despite Shakira facing the possibility of being dumped after bombshell Toni decided to couple up with Ben, she managed to remain in the show after three of the boys were willing to couple up with her.
Shakira ultimately decided to couple up with Harry, leaving model and influencer Sophie Lee packing her bags and leaving the villa.
