Leo Cullen hailed Leinster's URC final victory at Croke Park was "the stuff of dreams" after the province slammed the Bulls 32-7.

The Blues battered their South African rivals to finish the season on a high, with Jordie Barrett scoring one of the province's four tries in his last game before returning to New Zealand.

"It was an amazing occasion at Croke Park and the stuff of dreams, for kids in Ireland growing up to experience the final here, and listen it's about enjoying the moment now," said head coach Cullen. "Listen, it's great for everybody, there was an amazing atmosphere out there today."

And, turning to skipper Jack Conan beside him, Cullen beamed: "Two Wicklow lads here playing in a final at Croke Park, it was a rare sight!

"There was loads of great stuff over the season, it's a tough competition to win, the South African teams have been an amazing addition. We've been on the flip side in the past, personally I don't deem that as failure. You have to celebrate two teams getting to the final."

Conan, who scored the first of his side's tries before going on to lift the trophy with Caelan Doris and Cian Healy, commented: "We spoke about taking it moment by moment and not getting ahead of ourselves.

"For 80-odd minutes the lads showed up and were incredibly physical. It boils down to man on man, ultimately it's a physical game and we won that battle. Unbelievably proud of the effort from every single player who has contributed this season.

"It's just fantastic to play at Croke Park. There were 45,000 people there today and we heard every one of them, they stayed afterwards for us to do a lap with the trophy and one of the reasons why we do what we do is for the people who show up for us game after game."

Bulls boss Jake White claimed that Leinster at full strength are out of reach of the other sides in the URC. “Leinster are the benchmark, we were never going to win that game once they got that 14-0 start," White insisted.

“We got the 40 minutes the Leinster supporters were waiting for the whole season. It was like watching a horror movie, and you hope the ending will be different.

“This was Test-level rugby. It was like everything was played in fast forward. Leinster normally have 23 internationals, today they were short, they only had 22. They are not a provincial team, they are a phenomenal provincial team.

“That is probably the best Leinster team ever.”
