Armed police descended on a Leicester street this afternoon after a man was reportedly seen with a firearm. The incident happened on Knighton Fields Road in the Clarendon Park area of the city.
Residents described the dramatic scenes as armed officers responded. A resident on nearby Pope Street, who did not wish to be named, said she was in the garden and could hear "lots of banging, barking and shouting" from the street.
The resident said they “couldn’t make out what was being shouted but it sounded like [the officers] were trying to get someone to come out the house" Firearms officers and police dogs were pictured at the scene during the operation.

In a statement, a Leicestershire Police spokesman said: “Just before 2pm today (Saturday 14 June) a report was received that a man had been seen with what was reported to be a firearm in Knighton Fields Road East.
“In the interest of public and police safety, armed officers were deployed. They remain in the area carrying out further enquiries. No arrests have been made at this time.”
