Pet owner's horror as four cats found killed in Ballymena
Four cats were found killed in the Ballee area of the Co Antrim town, including two found tied up in a plastic bag
Pet owners have expressed their horror after four cats were "found murdered" in Ballymena this week.
The four cats were part of a group of nine that had been reported missing since the beginning of May this year in the Ballee Drive area of the Co Antrim town.
They were found dead this week, with two of the cats being tied up in a plastic shopping bag, sparking outrage among cat owners in the area who are now worried for the safety of their pets.

She said: "Since the beginning of May there have been about nine cats who have gone missing in the area and we have been appealing for information to find them.
"Then this week, a young boy who was out for a walk with his mum found my mum's two cats dead in an Iceland bag near the shops in Ballee. Nearby there were two other cats who had been reported missing and appear to have been killed as well.
"It is heartbreaking that someone would murder these beautiful animals like this and we are very worried that there is someone in the area killing our pets.
"We have notified animal welfare with the council and local charities, however we were disappointed when the police told us there was nothing they could do and they wouldn't be looking into it."
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is currently investigating the incident with a spokesperson saying: “Animal Welfare has received a complaint regarding several missing cats. An investigation is being undertaken by Animal Welfare Officers following the discovery of several dead cats in the Ballee Drive area.”
