Cardiff City have reportedly agreed a deal to appoint Leicester City assistant coach Brian Barry-Murphy.
Barry-Murphy has been serving as Ruud van Nistelrooy's highly-regarded assistant since December, having left his role as head coach of Manchester City’s development squad last summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs have now found an agreement and Barry-Murphy will sign his contract on Monday.
The search for a new manager at Cardiff has been ongoing since the season's end, but an official announcement is now expected shortly.
Cardiff have considered various potential managers, including Aaron Ramsey, Des Buckingham, Ian Evatt and Nathan Jones.
However, Barry-Murphy has consistently had strong backing from the Cardiff board after impressing them with his vision for the club during his interview.
The 46-year-old is recognised as an innovative coach with a desire to implement a dynamic style of football.
Van Nistelrooy said in January: "He’s a great coach. I wanted him to be part of my team because of his experience, because he can translate a certain way of playing, call it the game model, into a training model.
“He’s doing an excellent job, also with his experience on the touchline. But especially on the training pitch.”
Barry-Murphy is reportedly impressed by the young talent at Cardiff, including players like Alex Robertson, Yousef Salech, and a host of academy stars led by Rubin Colwill, Cian Ashford, Dylan Lawlor, Ronan Kpakio and Isaac Davies.
His only previous managerial stint was with Rochdale. Despite Rochdale's eventual relegation, Barry-Murphy managed to keep them in the league for two seasons and earned praise for his style of play and his work with home-grown talent.
