A campsite within an hour's drive from Bristol is "fantastic" for wild swimming.

Stowford Manor Farm is located in Wingfield, Wiltshire, which is a 45-minute drive from Bristol.

And, according to Pitch Up, the site is among the top campsites in the country to enjoy some wild swimming.

Pitchup.com founder Dan Yates said that in the past twelve months, the platform has seen a notable increase in sites featuring wild swimming.

It said a popular wild swimming site had had over 1,300 bookings already this year, over 40 per cent more than last year, adding Pitchup’s ‘wild-swimming’ filter had 5,000 views in May alone.

And the site has now highlighted Stowford Manor Farm as one of the best places to do some wild swimming while camping.

Pitch Up said: "Stowford Manor Farm in Wiltshire sits right on the banks of the River Frome, with access to the water for fishing, paddling, swimming, paddleboarding and launching small boats (pitch from £28 per night including 2 adults) .

"In fact, it’s such a great spot for wild swimming that the Farleigh and District Swimming Club has its base about half a mile downstream and welcomes guest swimmers."

The campsite is set within the ground of a 15th century manor house about three miles from Bradford-on-Avon. It describes itself as having a fairly traditional setup with simple facilities.

The space is also shared with some animals, meaning guests get to meet pigs, donkeys and cows. It also has a tea room that is open in the afternoons for cream teams and ice creams, as well as serving wood-fired pizzas in the evenings.

The campsite has an average rating of 8.1 on Pitch Up, having had 65 reviews.

One reviewer said: " The site is very laid back and basic with no fancy toilet blocks or amenities.

"The River Frome was fantastic for introducing our kids to wild swimming and paddle boarding."

And another one said: "Lovely campsite by the River Frome where you can refresh yourself.
