Harry Redknapp has admitted he "finds it hard to say no to things" and has no plans to retire just yet, despite the fact that the former Tottenham manager is approaching his 80th birthday.

In an unearthed 2023 interview, the now-78-year-old explained that after leaving his career in football behind in 2017, he hasn't been able to slow down since, taking on the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle and winning just one year later.

The star, who is returning as a coach for Soccer Aid's England team on Sunday, revealed that his reluctance to take a step back from his regular TV work, including a show with his retired professional footballer son Jamie Redknapp, drives his wife Sandra "mad".

When quizzed on if he'd "finally retired", Harry told Saga Magazine: "Not a chance. I can’t. I find it hard to say no to things – it drives Sandra mad.

"Recently, I’ve done Harry’s Heroes for ITV, managed in Soccer Aid and last year Jamie and I filmed Jamie & Harry’s World Cup Challenge [for Sky Max]. What a laugh that was."

Harry also opened up about his and Sandra's various health struggles over the years, telling the publication: "I've had a kidney cancer scare and a stent fitted into my heart, and Sandra’s had ovarian cancer and really suffered with her throat after damaging her vocal cords."

Sandra's sepsis ordeal in 2018 almost stopped Harry from flying to Australia for I'm A Celebrity, with the football legend being left terribly worried that he would lose his wife.

Harry recalled: "I was terrified I was going to lose her and I nearly didn’t get on the plane.

"But she wasn’t having it – she wanted me to go. I’ll never forget the moment she came into camp to see me. It was the first time she’d seen me cry."

ITV viewers were captivated by Harry and Sandra's love story, with many of them being left in tears over their surprise reunion in the camp, before he was crowned King of the Jungle.

Harry recently shared his excitement ahead of his comeback to Soccer Aid this evening, where England will be competing with the World XI team in a bid to raise money for Unicef.

He'll be joining former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney, boxing champion Tyson Fury, actor Vicky McClure and goalkeeping legend David James as part of England's coaching staff, while former professional footballers and celebrities battle it out on the pitch.

Soccer Aid for Unicef 2025 airs from 6pm on Sunday June 15 on ITV and ITVX.
