Some kitchen items are easier to clean than others. While most people will know to scrub chopping boards and knives when washing up in order to prevent cross contamination, they are also relatively easy items to get clean. Meanwhile, some awkwardly shaped items might not get as thorough of a clean.

Kitchen appliances in particular can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to reaching every nook and cranny. The task becomes even more challenging and potentially dangerous when dealing with appliances that have sharp blades, such as blenders or food processors. However, there are ways to get them clean without the risk of getting cut.

To make the cleaning process of these appliances less tedious and safer, a clever woman named Amanda, known online as 'AmandaSmartHacks', has shared her ultimate washing up hack.

This method provides a great way to clean your appliance in seconds, while also eliminating the risk of cutting your fingers or having to awkwardly scrub around sharp blades.

"Why didn't I know about this method before?" she wrote on her Instagram video, before adding in the caption: "This is the safest way to wash your blender."

In the video, Amanda is seen holding a dirty lid to her blender and a kitchen sponge, ready to get started with the cleaning. She then moves on to reveal there's an easier way to get your blender clean without having to scrub.

Amanda is seen adding a drop of washing up liquid before refilling it about a quarter of the way up with water. She then screwed on the dirty lid before walking over to the electrical part of the blender.

She then put the blender container and its lid back on the blender and started it for a few seconds, making the washing up liquid turn into foam as it was seen cleaning off the inside part of the blender.

As she went to unscrew the lid over her sink, she rinsed off the parts before revealing that both the container and the lid were sparking clean - without having to scrub it.

People quickly took to the comments of the video to share their amazement in Amanda's hack - however some claimed they already knew about it.

"Doing since even before teenage days, glad you caught up," one viewer wrote, while another said: "This is an old method....but glad you know it now."

The idea seemed so simple that one commenter lamented, "Every morning I had this intrusive thought of doing this. Somebody uploads this as a trick and gets 1 million views."

"Thank you!" another grateful viewer said. Meanwhile, another person suggested: "After adding dish wash liquid no need to run the mixer again... Just shake it well for 2-3 seconds and done..."
