Soccer Aid returns today as celebrities and former professional players face off in teams representing England and a World XI, all in the name of charity.

The event, which was established in 2006 by pop star Robbie Williams and presenter Jonathan Wilkes, has quickly become a popular annual tradition.

Funds raised go to UNICEF UK, with a staggering £106m collected to date. The World XI, previously known as the Rest of the World, boasts a superior record having defeated England seven times to the Three Lions' six victories.

England, under Frank Lampard, celebrated their first win in six years in the most recent match at a packed Stamford Bridge.

When is Soccer Aid?

Soccer Aid 2025 is scheduled for Sunday, June 15, and will be broadcast live on ITV1. Viewers can also stream the event online via ITVX and STV. The match is set to kick off at 7.30pm, with UNICEF UK Ambassador Dermot O'Leary and former England star Alex Scott hosting the live show.

Where will Soccer Aid take place?

After being hosted at Stamford Bridge in 2024, Soccer Aid returns to Old Trafford in Manchester for the 2025 edition.

Manchester United's home ground has previously hosted the event in 2006, from 2010 until 2018, and then in 2020 and 2023. The stadium boasts a capacity of just under 75,000.

Who are the players for Soccer Aid?

As Soccer Aid returns to the United's home ground, one of the club's legendary players will grace his old stomping ground. Wayne Rooney will be participating as a player and manager. He will be accompanied by ex-team-mates Gary Neville and Paul Scholes representing England.

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson is set to return, along with last year's Player of the Match, Steven Bartlett. Former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart will also make his Soccer Aid debut.

The rest of the Three Lions squad comprises Jermain Defoe, Steph Houghton, Toni Duggan, Aaron Lennon, Jill Scott, Sam Thompson, Sam Quek, Sir Mo Farah, Paddy McGuinness, Dame Denise Lewis, Bear Grylls, Tom Grennan, Alex Brooker and Angry Ginge.

England's coaching team boasts quite the lineup with Rooney, boxing titan Tyson Fury, Harry Redknapp, actress Vicky McClure and David James.

Facing them will be the World XI, managed by Manchester United's former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, alongside club legends Edwin van der Sar and Nemanja Vidic and other star names.

The charity match will feature Tony Bellew of boxing fame sharing the pitch with Leonardo Bonucci, Toby Brown, Martin Compston, Richard Gadd, Bryan Habana, Dermot Kennedy, Kaylyn Kyle, Gorka Marquez, Nadia Nadim and Livi Sheldon.

Who triumphed at Soccer Aid in 2024?

The World XI seized the lead through Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero, but Lioness Ellen White made history before the break as the event's first female goal scorer.

The second half saw Bartlett claim Player of the Match honours with a goal, followed by Defoe adding another. Bartlett notched his second, pushing England to 5-2, until Billy Wingrove netted a penalty for the World XI. Theo Walcott sealed the deal with a final goal, setting England's sights on equalling the overall record next time.
