Tributes have been paid to a 79-year-old woman 'whose kindness and spirit will be profoundly missed by everyone whose life she touched" following a double-decker bus crash in Leeds city centre.

The woman died two days after being involved in a collision with a double-decker bus in Vicar Lane at 1.52pm on Monday, June 16. She was heading across the road on a pedestrian crossing - between the Victoria Quarter entrance and Sidney Street - at the time.

Detectives at the force confirmed details of the deceased are not being released at this time, but her family have paid the following short tribute. The family statement said: "She was a deeply loved mother, sister and friend whose kindness and spirit will be profoundly missed by everyone whose life she touched."

West Yorkshire Police still want to speak to people who may have information that could help them. A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police are re-appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision in Leeds after a woman who was seriously injured in the incident sadly passed away in hospital.

"The woman, who was 79, died on Wednesday (18 June) after suffering injuries in a collision with a double-decker bus in Vicar Lane at 1.52pm on Monday, June 16. The collision occurred at the pedestrian crossing between the Victoria Quarter entrance and Sidney Street. The bus was heading towards Eastgate at the time.

"Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, who has not yet given an account, and anyone with any information that could assist the investigation, particularly anyone with relevant dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage."
