The sit-in protests, which echo protests seen in the US, have sprung up at other British universities including Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Sheffield and Newcastle over the last week.
People are being asked not to attend the hospital, as University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust said "a power outage" is affecting its hospitals
Students taking part at universities including Newcastle and Bristol have described the 'freezing' conditions but also the benefits being offered, including deliveries of free snacks.
It's the latest protest to rock the University of Bristol, with a number of other students having locked themselves away in various parts of the university for 11 days
The petition description says: 'Thomas Goldney II funded several voyages which trafficked enslaved Africans, as written in the University of Bristol's Legacies of Slavery Report.
